  1. At first I was confused why there were only old people at Rory's graduation party but then I remembered that her grandparents threw it, so of course, who else would be there? I love Emily and Richard singing the song, it's so unexpected. They are so so proud of Rory, it's so great to see and I love the look on Rory and Lorelai's faces, kind of amused but also really touched by the gesture. Emily is pretty terrible throughout the rest of both parties though, with her being incredulous why Rory didn't jump for joy and immediately accept Logan's proposal and then constantly complaining about the seats and whatnot. Why does she behave like this here? Richard meanwhile is so great, especially at the ceremony when he tells Lorelai that he's gonna take care of things and she just enjoy this moment. We have been waiting for this moment for 7 years - and they have been working towards it for about 21 years, and now it's finally here.

I enjoy the scene between Lorelai and Chris. It's just the right level of awkward. I always liked these two as friends, even though I'm glad that they tried to be more and failed. They're going to be okay. Of course Chris can't help himself from mentioning that usually it's the father who gets asked for his daughter's hand. But he's quick to acknowledge that of course it's Lorelai who deserves to be asked. I also love the look of horror on both Lorelai and Chris's faces when they realize what Logan is about to do.

Speaking of that ... I agree with you that it feels like Logan is only doing this because the writers needed him to do it to get him out of the way before the show ends. All of Rory's boyfriends had this problem that they were written sometimes widely inconsistent from one week to the next and Logan got the worst of it. I think that is why I could never get fully on board wit him because he's great when he's great, but he can also be terrible and I'm never quite sure which one the "real" Logan is supposed to be. Anyway, the only explanation I have for him here is that he ran head first into that avocado tree in California and he remembers that he loves Rory but has forgotten everything else about her. Why is he talking about biking and hiking? And why did he think a public proposal would be a good idea or expect Rory to say yes immediately. Obviously she was going to think this through and probably make a pro/con list and he should know her well enough to realize that the way he went about this was completely wrong - he should know that especially if he wants to marry her! I'm curious if anyone was seriouly expecting Rory to accept the proposal. When she asks Lorelai what she should do, it's pretty obvious that the answer is going to be no because if you have to have to ask your mother that question... I also don't understand Logan's sudden all or nothing approach to their relationship. I really like the way Rory turns him down and they are so young, that Logan's response seems unreasonable and really doesn't fit for him or them or the last episodes. In that scene, I especially love when Rory says that her future is wide open right now and for once, that excites her. She has had multiple meltdowns over the last season about not knowing what the future holds and not having a plan for what comes next, so hearing her have that perspective now was really great. And in the end, she's choosing this wide open future and these endless possibilities over her relationship, even though she would have preferred to keep both, obviously.

I'm not ready to watch the finale, you guys. It's one of my favourites ever but still. I don't want this to be over.
