I am very much looking forward to hearing everyone's opinion about Rory turning down the job offer. I think there are a lot of people who think she should not have done that. It probably depends on where you are in life and what experiences you've had yourself. I guess a lot of people have to make a decision like this, do they try to go after their dream job or accept another one? We will see if Rory made the "right" decision, but I like that it is *her* decision. Yes, Logan and Lorelai present arguments for and against it, and she makes a pro/con list but in the end, she makes the decision by herself with what she feels in the moment. Of course Rory has a lot of privilege, if she doesn't graduate from college with a job immediately lined up, she's not going to end up on the street. She has Lorelai and her grandparents who can take care of her and are willing to. And from Rory's experiences so far, it's not crazy for her to think that she will find something else. Everything has always worked out in her favour so far, so why shouldn't this, too?
ReplyDeleteI am surprised by how fast Logan came around again and how fast I came around on him again, too. Yes, he is talking a lot of bullshit in this episode, but I love the scene he has with Lorelai in the kitchen. People always say that Logan is a Christopher, but in this moment, he presents himself as a Lorelai. I also always love the scenes when Lorelai and Sookie are walking through town, talking about Rory's life and how Lorelai feels about it. We've had a few of those over the course of the show and this is another good one.
Seeing Lorelai and April embrace at the town meeting was cute but also slightly out of left field. Did they spend any time together besides that time Lorelai helped out with the birthday party? Luke in dad mode was very cute, too. Maybe him and Lorelai apologizing the way they did and laying out exactly what went wrong might be a bit too on the nose, but I loved it. It's another necessary part toward their eventual coming together again. It's not how they used to deal with their problems in the past, but it shows again that they have both grown and maybe in the future, they can communicate better.
I don't think you mentioned the title "I'm a Kayak, hear me roar" in that episode. I'm pretty sure it is a reference to the song "I am woman, hear me roar".
