  1. I think I have mentioned before that I am not a fan of TJ. I do not find him funny and I do not think he adds anything to the show.
But his presence in the episode is ALMOST justified for the return of one of my favorite tertiary characters, Tom the Contractor! As usual, Tom brings the dry humor and consummate practicality.

However, I found myself distracted by a recurring GG plot hole: Money. When Luke said that they were paying TJ a contractor salary, AND paying Tom extra to deal with TJ while remodeling the entire second floor, including repairing the hole TJ broke in the wall, I started to weep and hyperventilate. (20 grand. Easy.) Does Luke have a money tree growing behind the diner? Or did he borrow it from Kirk? That's an awful lot to pay just to keep TJ happy, and Lorelai is being awfully cavalier about spending it.

I find the TJ/Luke stuff frustrating in part because the show keeps playing it for humor, but there could be some interesting dramatic stories about how Luke deals with Liz repeatedly dumping her problems on him, and for the most part the show doesn't go there. I find Liz much more interesting than TJ, but she doesn't get the screen time.

Favorite part of the episode: Hep Alien on tour. Gil's enthusiasm for all things rock and roll allows him to find the awesome in Pastor Tim and the AV room. Lane spent so much of the past couple seasons struggling for the sake of her dream, and it's great to see her hard work paying off.

  2. I was really irritated by Rory's scene at the road side where she's basically their princess all of a sudden, telling everyone what to do and when to wrap up. That was the weirdest part even because the supervisor guy is right there but instead of doing it himself, he tells Rory to tell the others? That didn't work at all for me.
I'm glad they at least explicitely stated that it's been two months, but after we saw how she started last episode, this was very jarring. It didn't bother me as much at the old people's dance class because she fit in more naturally there.
My problem is less with the fact that she's perfect even at all kinds of community service because that makes some sense for the character. But I wish we had spent more time seeing her adapt to this new situation and her having a harder time instead of all of a sudden jumping to the end of that development.
I really love Rory's bangs though. She looks great with them, they really suit her. For all their faults, seasons 6 and 7 are my favourite hair seasons for Rory.

I love Paul Anka. I love that he's so weird. And I love that we only hear about all of his crazy quirks from Lorelai, but whenever we see him, he looks super chill. It works really well.

    1. Re: Paul Anka... do you think he's just a normal dog really? Because I think he's really just a normal dog.

    2. And Lorelai is just making up all his quirks? No, I like to believe he really is this weird.
