  1. This episode didn't make much of an impression on me, but there are two things in it I really enjoyed:

--the ongoing humiliation of Rory and Dean trying to carry on their "relationship." Now that the hazy glow has worn off, they're dealing with the real-life logistical crap. Gilmore Girls so often operates in a heightened TV reality, it was kind of refreshing to see them figuring out that trying to have sex in a small car is not all that romantic or sexy.

--The slow panning shot of all four members of Hep Alien looking horrified as the theme song to "Greatest American Hero" plays. I laughed four times, once each for the expressions of Lane, Gil, Brian, and Zach. Then I recoiled in horror at Brian's outfit. Maybe Lane can give him a makeover?

  2. I agree with Ellie's comment about Rory and Dean. I'll have more to say on this when we've seen some more of it. Dean saying he doesn't want to flaunt their relationship in front of Lindsay and the town reminded me of Rory not wanting to kiss Jess in public when they first started dating. I don't think I ever made that connection before but I think it's interesting. It lasted exactly one episode back then so I wouldn't be surprised if Rory and Dean were unconvincincly making out all over town next week.

I also think the band argument is very fun. Though it's a bit unbelievable that they would be having it right before having to play. It doesn't seem like they knew before what song they were supposed to be playing.

Taylor spraying whipped cream directly into his mouth is somehow one of the saddest images of the show so far.

  3. Not about this episode at all...but I just recently started watching Gilmore Girls (for the first time) and found your podcast and have been catching up. I'm up to maybe episode 3 of Season 2 of the show, and just started the podcast for episode 1 of Season 2. I'm really enjoying it. There's been a few times I've thought about commenting on something you said on the podcast, but obviously I'm listening to stuff that you said like two and a half years ago, so it's probably not going to be that relevant! I'll catch up soon enough, and then maybe I'll comment in real time. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know I'm enjoying it. Thanks!
