  1. This is why I don't have kids. I am not waking up at 6 in the morning on the weekend. Lorelai has great patience walking through garbage just so Rory can avoid Dean. How does Rory think shes going to get around town without ever seeing Dean? I really like that Lorelai doesn't throw anything that Rory gave her away. And she has her own box for Max's stuff.

I love Luke's concern about Rory, getting her strawberries. He went a little overboard fighting with Dean. Luke acting like a teenager is hilarious. But Lorelai has a point, Dean is 16 and Luke is a grown man. But he had good intentions. And Kirk doesn't like Dean because of his floppy hair style. lol. Well kirk does have a point, that is a terrible haircut Dean.

I love Sookie! She's so concerned about Jacksons cooking and the dishwasher. It's ridiculous but I totally believe Sookie has a diagram for how to load the dishwasher. It was nice seeing Jackson stand up to her, I'm sure he knows how to cook. Produce anyways.

I'm still not invested with Lorelai and Max and I did not like them going at it like teenagers. I guess it's because we never really got to see them in their relationship, and it feels like Lorelai had moved on. Her feelings about Max came out of no where last week because it had to lead to this. And I don't like that.

I love that Paris' mom is making her stay at the party til 1030. It's nice seeing Lane dance and have fun and Rory looked genuinely happy for her. Summer is a bitch and how big of a slut is Louise. She was kind of mean towards Lane, but Madeline seemed so nice and friendly.

  2. I enjoyed this episode.
I think this is a very believable way for Rory to deal with the breakup, or rather not deal with it.
I really like how Lorelai handles the whole thing, wanting to talk about it and giving advice but not pressuring when she realizes that Rory doesn't want any of that and instead going along with her crazy list and making sure nobody's bothering her.

While last week's mention of Max felt off, I do like how they bring him back in here and how Lorelai articulates that in a good speech. Of course, they still have the same problems they did before, so we'll see how they're going to deal with that time around. But I really liked their scenes together.

It looks like Lane might get a bigger storyline of her own, which is good.

I don't believe Rory has ever done the dishes, or what was she trying to do with her glass?

  3. This is Lesley, new listener. Just found your podcast and I have been obsessively listening to your podcasts and rematching the show. I am so happy to have found you and hope that I can catch up soon. I remember watching this episode, but not that I liked it very much. I was surprised by how much I liked this episode. I thought the interaction between Luke, Lorelai and Rachel. It felt like Lorelei was really hit in the face with her feelings about Luke now that she has to actually confront Rachel as someone else in Luke's life. I also really loved Luke and Lorelei's interaction at the Firelight Festival. However, I really REALLY didn't like the Dean and Rory storyline. It didn't feel authentic, I remember my first teenage lover. You remember EVERY "special" milestone in those relationships, so it felt very unbelievable that she didn't know that their three month anniversary was coming up. I also felt like Dean's reaction to her being unable to tell him that she loved him back was way over the top. It was such a turnaround in how he had been acting. I get that not hearing that back from her would have been humiliating and hurtful, but to break up with her over that seem like too big a reaction. Especially if he knows what kind of thoughtful, pro/con list making person Rory is. I also agree that there should have been some scene showing the breakup, or at least a line from Dean at the car lot before he stormed off. I didn't remember that they had broken up over that one conversation. I also didn't really believe her reaction when she told Lorelei that they had broken up.

    1. Oh! I also realized that I forgot the moment between Lorelei and Richard. I loved it! I thought their interaction was PERFECT and really showed that despite their issues Richard really does love Lorelei. His acting was sheer perfection during this whole arc.
